preventive maintenance of squirrel cage induction motor

In every industry squirrel cage induction motor is normally used for various applications.
if we maintained properly it will give good life time.
here are some points to check in preventive maintenance.
1.clean the motor with cloth and by blowing the air.
2.check and tighten the terminal connections. check if there is any melting of cable at terminal connection.
3.check the cable gland and tight if necessary.
4. check the earth connection and tight if necessary. check the earth  wire condition.
5.check the bearings and their condition. check the sound level of bearings if it is abnormal change the bearing. keep a record of bearings of all motors in a plant. it will useful when we plan to procure bearings.
6. external cooling fan cools the motor. check the fan blade condition. check the end cover and fix it properly.
7. when the motor runs due to vibrations motor base bolts can get loose. tight the base bolts.
8. run the motor and check the alignment of motor coupling. check coupling condition.
9.check the IR values of motor stator. it it is below acceptable level improve IR values of stator windings.
